News from SAVA says the future of the Government
Help to Buy scheme is up in the air, according to various sources. The scheme is a Government loan for those buying new build to borrow 20% of the purchase price (40% in London) to add to their own deposit. Critics say that the scheme has inflated house prices and a lot of those who use the scheme could afford to buy a house without it. A government spokesperson told Which 'The government has committed to the scheme to March 2021 and recognises the need to create certainty for prospective homeowners and developers beyond this date.'
